What is the building envelope?

Building Envelope or Shell

• Includes everything that separates your home from the outside:  Walls, Ceiling, Doors, Windows, Basement Foundation walls
• The building envelope or shell should have an air barrier, approriate thermal barrier(insulation), and should be properly designed to control any moisture that could arise in the shell or outside of it.
