Cellulose for Attics

- When cellulose is blown into attics it provides a thick continuous blanket that that provides excellent insulation. The product is denser then fiberglass and does a better job with air sealing. It is not an air barrier though.
- It is extremely crucial in an attic to seal off air passageways like plumbing and electrical penetrations for maximum value and comfort. This can be done by hand or using Air-Tite spray foam insulation. Can lights should also be kept clear of cellulose.
- An extremely effective way to insulate is to skim coat the attic with spray foam insulation for air sealing, then insulate over with cellulose or fiberglass for the added R-Value.
