How much does it cost to insulate a house?

The cost of home insulation depends on a number of factors such as the size and age of the house, existing insulation, and the specific area that needs insulation. To get a clear idea of how much insulation will cost for your home, we recommend scheduling a free in-home consultation with our professionals.

What is the building envelope or shell?

The building envelope, also called the “shell,” includes everything that separates your home from the outside. Key components of the building envelope include walls, ceiling, doors, and windows. The building envelope is responsible for a large portion of the home’s temperature and moisture control. When our team at The Hayes Company evaluates your home envelope, we look to see if the proper temperature and moisture barriers are present and doing their job, as well as if they can be improved to increase the energy efficiency and overall comfort of your home.

How do I determine if this work is really going to save me money?

You can track the energy saving benefits through your local power company. You may be eligible for tax credits as well.

Shower Door FAQs

What is the difference between a framed and frameless shower door?

Framed shower doors are thinner by nature, as they rely on the frame to uphold most of the construction. They are constructed of weaker material, usually 1/8” to 3/16” glass. On the other hand, frameless shower doors do not rely on metal to hold them up, requiring a sturdier build. These are made of 3/8” to 1/2” tempered and polished safety glass. This glass also prevents the wobbling you find in traditional, cheaper doors when opening and closing them.

What are the advantages of a frameless shower door?

The first thing you’ll notice about frameless shower doors is their appearance. Because the frame is eliminated they open up the look of the room and shower, adding elegance to your home. They are easier to clean than framed shower doors as you won’t have to worry about cleaning around the metal frame. You only need to clean the glass, leaving it looking brilliant with minimal maintenance.

What's the process for getting a new frameless shower door?

The Hayes Company works hard to make the installation of your frameless shower door quick and simple. One of our team members will discuss your design wishes and review your bathroom design to determine the best frameless shower door options. We will review the size, style, hardware finishes, and more to provide a project quote. Once approved your shower door will be fabricated/finalized. The installation will then be scheduled and you can begin enjoying your beautiful new frameless shower door!

How wide should my door be?

We recommend 26” as a standard door for most showers. With a wider opening, you may require a larger door or a door and a side panel. Each bathroom is different and requires a unique approach. Chat with one of our experts today so we can provide you with the best solution to outfit you with your new frameless shower door.

Can I get a towel bar on my shower door?

Of course! Our shower doors allow you to choose from a large selection of styles and finishes for your towel bar. The swing or slide of your door must be factored in when deciding on a towel bar. As with all of our services, we’ll help you along with your process to make sure you will have a perfectly functioning shower door.

Fireplace FAQs

Do you offer complete installation services?

Yes! Our in-house installation technicians have years of experience installing all types, styles, and models of fireplaces from the manufacturers we represent. We guarantee your satisfaction on all of our services.

Can I adjust the flame height on my fireplace?

Most gas-operated fireplaces have adjustable flame heights. Make sure to check with the manual on your appliance or talk with us to learn more about your unit. If you are shopping for a new fireplace, we will be able to explain the functions of your preferred fireplace.

Can I have a fireplace installed if I don’t have a chimney?

Absolutely. An electric fireplace is a great option for a home that does not have a chimney.

How do I go about fireplace maintenance?

Like all appliances and home features, fireplaces require routine maintenance. Each style and type of fireplace needs different care. Our fireplace team services the products we sell. Contact our office to schedule a service appointment for your fireplace.

Can I remove the glass panel on my gas fireplace?

If your fireplace was shipped with a glass panel on the front, you may not remove it as it is designed for safety measures. These fireplaces require sealed combustion systems to function. A screen mesh panel can be installed in front of the glass to reduce reflection and add another layer of safety.

How often do I need to clean the fireplace?

You should schedule a qualified, professional service technician to perform a cleaning and check-up before each heating season. As winter quickly approaches us, it’s a good idea to schedule your appointment before you think you may want to use your fireplace. This helps guarantee your safety and fireplace functionality.

Can I use my gas or wood fireplace if my power is out?

Yes, you may still use your fireplace to keep warm if you have lost power. It’s a helpful resource in your home to keep your family safe during a cold-weather power outage.

What kind of fireplace can I have in my home?

There are many options depending on where you want to place your fireplace, your budget, and what style you’re shopping for. You do not need to have a chimney installed to put in a fireplace. Contact us today about your fireplace options! Our helpful team will be able to walk you through the process and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
